The medical team at Aix's CHP
At all stages of your health care process, you benefit from a multidisciplinary staff that ensures your comfort and safety.
A wide range of professional skills:
The management of your healthcare is supervised by a referring nephrologist.
Nephrologists are specialized physicians who followed a degree course related to your pathology and all aspects of your health.
They ensure the medical coordination of your healthcare and make suggestions as to the most adapted treatment according to your health status and personal situation. They monitor developments with respect to your state of health and suggest, when appropriate, supplementary exams or treatments among colleagues in another medical discipline.
Dialysis sessions last approximately 4 hours and the staff ensures its smooth functioning in coordination with the nephrologist. Dialysis nurses are specially trained to ensure that proper care is given to you. They are notably in charge of keeping a close watch during the whole session, and to assist you during connection and disconnection phases.
Dialysis nursing auxiliaries assist the nursing staff and are specifically trained for dialysis related activities and are able to address the specific modalities of your treatment. They are also in charge of your comfort and safety.
Most centers offer the services of diet specialists who help you adapt your lifestyle to your state of health in order to ease your treatment as much as possible. Patients suffering from kidney insufficiency should know and observe a few simple rules which improve treatment efficiency with as less constraints as possible.
Most centers provide psychology practitioners who can help you and your relatives overcome the hardships that your state of health may bring. Personal counseling is systematically provided, either by means of an informal exchange upon your arrival, or by an in-depth follow-up during the course or outside sessions.
Your state of health is assimilated to a chronic pathology and entitles you to a full financial coverage of medical costs by your health insurance fund, depending on your personal situation. Our staff may also assist you in whatever administrative procedures you may have to go through.
Depending on the modality of your dialysis, some departments are able to ensure the delivery of drinks or meals, house cleaning and the general maintenance of your home.
The administrative staff schedules your medical appointment and dialysis sessions, coordinates your transportation if necessary, and issues all administrative documents needed for the coverage of your medical costs by your health insurance fund.
The administrative staff also does the follow-up of your medical file and coordinates supplementary exams and temporary hospital stays if need be.
