Certification of health institutions
The certification of health institutions by the Haute Autorité de Santé (French National Authority for Health) consists in an external evaluation procedure undertaken by independent healthcare professionals with respect to organization and practices.
It is compulsory and takes place every four years.
It appraises the Quality Management system as well as various specific aspects of healthcare organization and the evaluation process of professional practices.
This procedure aims at:
- setting up a quality system focusing on the quality and safety of healthcare
reaching a quality level based on criteria considered essential and known as priority required practices. Measuring quality on specific elements has a leverage effect on quality.
- it completes the system’s analysis by specific quality measurements
- it allows to measure the consistency between the implementation of an improvement system and the actual control of quality on specific aspects
- it is awaited by both public authorities and users.
Since 1998, the Centres d’Hémodialyse de Provence are engaged in a process of constant quality improvement and healthcare safety.
- The initial procedure known as V1 accreditation which was obtained in 2004 by the CHPs aimed at implementing the process of constant quality improvement in healthcare institutions.
- The second procedure known as V2 certification (or V2007) was obtained in June 2010 by the CHPs.
- The CHPs were certified without recommendation following the V2010 certification visit and obtained the highest grade possible. The detailed report is available on the HAS website: www.has-sante.fr
- Our approach aims at integrating the increasing requirements to which healthcare institutions are submitted and to apply principles of constant improvement to all aspects of our mission, in particular by taking into account the human factor (commitment, training, awareness, motivation). The observance of healthcare quality and safety is the result of cohesion in multidisciplinary working groups that are trained and coordinated by the Quality Department. Our goal is to improve quality and performance by taking into account risk prevention and healthcare quality.
