Centre d’hémodialyse Aix en Provence

Therapeutic education

This aims to help patients acquire or maintain the skills they need to manage their lives as effectively as possible with a chronic illness.

The Provence Haemodialysis Centres in Aubagne and Aix have obtained authorisation from the Agence Régionale de Santé(ARS) to set up a Therapeutic Education Programme (ETP) for both stage IV and V non-dialysed chronic kidney disease patients and chronic kidney disease patients on dialysis.
Our programme is part of a patient care pathway, which can be consulted at www.oscarsante.org.

It is based on the commitment of our teams, their professional skills and experience, and the multi-disciplinary skills of the people involved (nephrologist, pharmacist, nurse, dietician, volunteers from patients' associations) trained by approved organisations.

Our educational approach involves several distinct stages:

  • Drawing up an individualised educational diagnosis with the patient, to define their needs and expectations.
  • Defining a personalised therapeutic education programme that sets out the skills that the patient needs to acquire or mobilise. The planning and implementation of therapeutic education sessions, using content and learning methods.
  • Assessing what has been learned at the end of the education programme.
